Welcome!
BIRT began when Dr Iain Roberts researched and developed his own skeleton sled as he raced on the World Cup circuit and at the 2010 Olympic Games.
Since then BIRT has continued to support athletes from a range of sports.
The website is currently under construction. Please do take a look around to find out more about upcoming projects.

Awarded for pioneering engineering techniques in harsh environments and developing world leading aerospace technology.
About BIRT
As BIRT began by producing Olympic and Paralympic sports equipment, the motivation has always been to assist athletes to be the best they can. These projects were completed at production cost, zero profit! (Athletes should be able to focus on their competition and not worry about the bank balance!)
It is because of the Olympic involvement that we at BIRT understand the need for high precision and accuracy, delivered to strict timelines and at cost efficient prices to ensure that projects fulfil their potential.
Innovative techniques that are now tried and tested by BIRT can be applied to a wide range of engineering and technical challenges. BIG or SMALL, we can assist in helping your project be a success.
RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT services include:
- Design assistance.
- Materials analysis.
- Prototype development
- Fabrication (CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing to list just a few).
- Carbon fibre and composite material weave optimisation.
